How It WorksThe Vornado PCO500 goes beyond the impressive capabilities of True HEPA by destroying and disabling harmful bacteria, viruses, gases, and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) with its Vornado Silverscreen technology.  HEPA filtration traps dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke and more while the carbon pre-filter absorbs odors and captures larger particles like hair. Then Vornado’s patented Silverscreen Technology uses a process called Photo-Catalytic Oxidation (PCO) which destroys contaminants by using UV light and TiO2 media.  Vornado also uses whole room purification technology to circulate and purify all the air in the room, not just the air near the unit.Additional FeaturesThe PCO500 Air Purifier has sleek, touch-sensitive navigation with simple controls at your fingertips. The sleep mode dims the luminous display automatically in low light situations and child lock  keeps little ones from changing the settings. Dust and odor sensors respond to the environment and adjust the fan speed accordingly, and the PCO500 has a Quick Clean Speed  to dramatically increase airflow to provide maximum air filtration. Vornado also provides whole room purification to purify more air more often. There are separate indicator lights alerting you when you need to change the HEPA filter, Carbon filter, UV bulb, and silverscreen tray.Filter ChangesTo replace the filters, remove the front panel and  the permanent pre-filter by pulling on the center tabs.
