How It WorksThe Austin Air HealthMate Plus air purifier uses a three-stage filtration process to help capture particles, odors, heavy chemicals and smoke. Air first passes through a pre-filter designed to capture large particles. This pre-filter should be cleaned once a month, depending on use and environment. After the bigger particles are removed, the air passes through fifteen pounds of a treated carbon blend specifically designed to remove harmful chemicals and odors. With fifteen pounds of carbon impregnated with potassium iodide, plus zeolite, it targets heavy odors and chemicals such as Radon, Benzene and Formaldehyde (found in glues and sealants).
